The Wilder Kaiser No. 3/36

from the series 36 Moods of the Wilder Kaiser

2025

Oil on canvas

180 x 180 cm

CR 1-3

Private collection, Austria

This painting depicts a warm spring mood, bathed in soft pink hues, a feeling created by the light refracting in the misty atmosphere of melting snow. The focus is on the painterly translation of atmosphere, color, and transience. In the first three works of the series "36 Moods of the Wilder Kaiser," Kaspar Laurenz attempts to create a true-to-life color palette, which reaches its culmination with No. 3/36. Subsequently, the series becomes freer again, searching for a new form of expression. Due to its distinctive use of color, it is the artist's most exhibited painting to date. In 2026, it received the audience award for best work at the Artlab of the Benjamin Eck Gallery in Munich.
