With No. 8/36, Kaspar Laurenz expands his series "36 Moods of the Wilder Kaiser" for the first time, introducing a new landscape perspective. The painting depicts the view across the fields of farmer Obernauer in Kitzbühel, thus departing for the first time from the classic portrayal of the Wilder Kaiser as the sole subject. Simultaneously, a fully developed foreground appears for the first time, significantly enhancing the spatial depth of the composition.

The color palette unfolds in a largely abstract space of warm yellows and reds, punctuated only by the delicate greens of a spring meadow. The landscape follows its own distinct painterly logic, in which color becomes the primary vehicle for mood and memory.

Particular attention is paid to the maple trees bordering the fields. Built up in numerous transparent glazes, their fine branches are partially revealed and sculpted with the tip of a needle. This elaborate technique lends the painting an extraordinary depth.

The still-bare trees and the snow-covered peaks of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range place the work in spring. As the first painting in the series to consciously expand the classical pictorial structure and open up new compositional possibilities, No. 8/36 occupies a special position within the group of works.
