The Wilder Kaiser No. 13/36
from the series “36 Moods of the Wilder Kaiser”
2026
Oil on canvas
40 x 40 cm
CR 13-3
Privatsammlung Österreich
No. 13 depicts a slightly later moment of the same sunset shown in No. 14. Although the numbering suggests a different chronological sequence, this painting continues the evening atmosphere of No. 14. The light has shifted further, and the golden mood intensifies into stronger orange and warm tones.
Together, the two works form a painterly ensemble through which the progression of a single evening can be traced. A brief transition in time reveals how quickly light and color can change within just a few minutes.
Technically, No. 13 follows the same principle as No. 14. The light is created not only through bright pigments on the surface, but through the transparency and depth of the built-up layers of paint. As a result, the luminosity appears to emerge from within the painting itself. Like No. 14, this work engages with questions central to Impressionism and develops them further through an individual contemporary painterly technique.
