Color study of the Emperor in autumn light
from the series “Autumn Impressions”
2025
Oil on canvas
30 x 30 cm
CR 2-13
Private collection, Austria
The painting was created in the autumn of 2025 for Kaspar Laurenz’s first solo exhibition, Autumn Impressions, in Kitzbühel. It depicts the Wilder Kaiser in the midday light, when the pale limestone cliffs appear almost luminous.
The shimmering turquoise-blue shadows lend the mountain landscape a light, atmospheric quality. In the foreground, the fields around the Ackerlhütte are already beginning to turn reddish, announcing the arrival of autumn. The result is a subtle interplay of light between late-summer brightness and autumnal transformation.
