In the winter of 2025/26, Frauenschuh in Kitzbühel presented Kaspar Laurenz’s monumental work Auracher Hügellandschaft. Measuring approximately eight meters wide and two meters high, the quadriptych consists of four large-scale canvases that together depict a snow-covered hilly landscape near Aurach.

The installation was conceived specifically for the exhibition space. The four paintings not only form a continuous image but also develop a spatial presence through their interaction with the architecture of the room. This creates a landscape that surrounds the viewer not only visually but also physically, giving the impression of stepping into the winter scenery.

The composition deliberately dispenses with a traditional horizon. Instead, the snow-covered hills extend across all four canvases, merging into a flowing pictorial space. Finely nuanced tones of white, grey, and blue, together with numerous translucent layers of paint, lend the winter landscape a quiet, atmospheric depth.

With its presentation at Frauenschuh, Auracher Hügellandschaft was shown publicly for the first time in its complete format, marking an important step in Kaspar Laurenz’s exploration of monumental landscape painting and spatially oriented pictorial installations.
